10.11.2019 New Notes with Grachtenfestival, Gaudeamus Muziekweek & November Music
I am thrilled to be able to share this really lovely review of my concert at November music. The concert was the third in a series of concerts attached to the New Notes project, a collaboration between three of the most prominent music festivals in the Netherlands, Grachtenfestival, Gaudeamus Muziekweek and November Music.
For the New Notes project, the three festivals join forces to commission new music for an artist, this time around that artist was me which was a huge honour. After a call for scores which resulted in an initial submission by 16 composers, a narrowing down to 8 with whom I then had a reading session, the final selection of composers has ended up being Thomas Power from Ireland, Aya Yoshida from Japan, Adrián Crespo Barba from Spain and Boris Bezemer from the Netherlands. The fact that there were so many (good!) submissions was both humbling and inspiring and getting to work with each of the four composers has been a real treat. Each of the four works are extremely unique and the combination in concert has been really exciting!
